Endoscopic sleeve gastrectomy is a new innovative weight loss procedure in performing sleeve surgery. The whole procedure is performed through the mouth with a flexible camera. It has no incision. This surgery can help you lose more than 20% of your weight in 2 years. To find out more please contact our clinic for an appointment.

Understanding Weight loss procedures

Sleeve Gastrectomy

This is one of the most common weight loss surgeries performed in Australia. It is reported that weight loss can be greater than 50 to 80% of excess body weight. Many medical conditions such as diabetes, sleep apnea, and hypertension can be cured through this procedure. The weight loss is rapid and sustained long term.

Endoscopic sleeve Gastroplasty

This procedure mimics laparoscopic gastric sleeve surgery. However, no stomach is cut out and removed. The stomach is plicated with sutures internally to reshape it into a gastric sleeve. Recovery is rapid and significant weight loss can be achieved. It is common for patients to lose more than 20 to 30% of excess body weight in 2 years.

Superannuation Payment Option

Weight loss surgery is not readily available in the public system despite its recognised benefit to health due to reductions in co-morbidities. As a consequence the Australian government allows patients to access you or your families superannuation to help cover the costs involved in weight loss surgery.

The application to release your super early is processed by the ATO Early access on compassionate grounds | Australian Taxation Office (ato.gov.au)

You will need to fill out an application form as well as obtain a letter from both your GP and Dr Clement Tsang (provided after your initial consultation). This process usually takes around 2-4 weeks, with a further 4-6 weeks for the release of the superannuation funds to your bank account.

SuperCare offer an easier solution to patients, as their experienced team process the application with the ATO on your behalf. This is a quicker and easier service but they charge a fee to process this on your behalf.
